Fox PhotoOn Thursday, the day of Obama’s speech, John McCain announced he had made a VP selection but wouldn’t release it until Friday in Dayton, Ohio. The Democrats were afraid that it would leak and diminish the punch of the Obama speech. That didn’t happen but one of the most intriguing suggestions that I heard on the radio last night was to fly over Invesco Field with a banner that read “It’s Romney” but that didn’t happen either. So, now (Friday 7:10 am) the rumor is that a plane is in route from Alaska to Dayton, Ohio with Alaska Governor Sarah Palin on board. Also, to be on site for the announcement will be Mike Huckabee, Mint Romney and others who were thought to be potential VP picks. It had already been reported that Mike Huckabee had said he was not the VP pick. At 8:04 Tim Pawlenty has said he was not coming to Dayton and Sarah Palin has rocketed to the top of the list...

Jimmy Carter a Bitter Man

Could we really expect Jimmy Carter to have achieved some level of sanity? While he has proven time and again, as President and Former President, that he is off based in just about everything he does, but you still hope!  After last week saying that the Democrats should pass the Columbia Free Trade Act and support one of our primary allies in South America you think, maybe. Then, less than a week later he falls off the wagon again and puts his foot in his mouth regarding John McCain milking his military record. Say what you want about John McCain, nobody has anything but honor for a man who gave so much for his country. That is except for Jimmy, the Blind Hog, Carter. The man is a great reflection of the soul of the Democrat party where we can talk nicely with dictators but honoring our military service men and women just doesn’t come easy. So Jimmy, the Blind Hog,...

Obama at Invesco Field

Having listened to Barack Obama’s entire speech last night I reflected on it by going to bed and sleeping on it before I wrote anything. This morning I woke up and my thoughts were these; you’ve got to hand it to him, he can deliver a speech. You can like what he said or hate it but it was delivered well. I thought it was good enough to give some thought to voting for him. My problem came when I considered what he said and his past record, they just didn’t give me the comfort I needed to feel he would be leading the country in the right direction. He said a lot of good things last night and a few that left me cold. I guess it mostly comes down to where you see the role of government in our individual lives. He said, “I am my brothers keeper” which is good but is that really the role of government? Should government be the be-all and do-all for everybody or do we...

Big BlowWill Gustav blow the Republican Convention off course?   As we anxiously await the Republican Convention on Monday and a hurricane blows in the gulf, it presents both opportunity and peril. If the hurricane hits the coast how will FEMA do and more important, how will the new Governor of Louisiana do? Governor Jindal will have the back drop of the past but how will he perform as he is put to the test? Will he act like his inept predecessor or will he act like the Governors of the Midwest states reacted when they were hit by disasters this spring?   This may be a real opportunity to see leadership in action. Will the convention go on, will the speeches go on as planned, will the hurricane hit the gulf coast and will Bobby Jindal have a chance to show his abilities as a state leader? The upcoming week may be filled with suspense and we get to sit back and witness it all. Then we can play Monday morning...

Obama & BillAs Bill Clinton said, Joe Biden provides experience and Obama the instincts and insights, I assume he couldn’t think of any thing else that Barack brings to the table. Bill Clinton gave a great speech and what he said was telling. While he played the role and did it as a great actor would play a role on stage would the real Bill Clinton please stand-up? Is what he said truly how he feels or should we read between the lines and hear something else? I must be honest, at this point I really can’t tell but over the next few weeks the real Bill Clinton will revel himself. Based on what he’s said on the campaign trail Bill Clinton does not consider Barack Obama his equal when it comes to qualifications to occupy the White House. The question is will he contain his emotions and be the good Democrat soldier or will the real Bill Clinton expose himself? I anticipate some really interesting...

Hot Dog HoaxWhile we all love science and all the wonderful things it has provided us, they just need to contain the idiots who misuse it.  First it was global warming and now hot dogs!  These are the same people who condemn the Food and Drug Administration when they allow the release of a new drug but using minimal facts to perpetrate their lies is OK.  I don't think there are very many people who think being in a hot dog eating contest every day is good nutrition but to use scare tactics on kids is just teaching them to use one bad behavior to combat another.  How about a little common sense here or is that just too much to ask?

Ted Kennedy

Ted Kennedy, a former drunk and suspected murderer was honored on Monday night at the Democratic National Convention. I personally have had a hard time wrapping my mind around why exactly they chose to bring light to this baffoon's achievements, who's only real accomplishments in life were being born a Kennedy and surviving the 60's. Even Ted's brothers thought ill of him, with Jack referring to him as "the gay illiterate" in the family. The event started out with a tribute highlighting the finer points in his senate career, but for the life of me the only thing I could think of while watching it was that he shouldn't have ever had the chance to accomplish these things because he should be rotting in jail for what he did to Mary Jo Kopeckne. Some might say I'm being too hard on the Senator considering his current health problems, and to that I'd say that I would be willing to bet...

Barack Obama

China has infrastructure to be proud of and it is drawing industry, jobs and capital from the U.S. We need to support rules that make us more like them if we want to achieve prosperity in the future. The change he is promising can be seen in China today.

Pelosi's full of Hot Air, Her Alternative Energy? This woman is a dud and needs to be replaced as speaker. If the Democrats won't do it maybe it's time to replace the Democrat's who support her. She is no JFK Democrat because rather then expecting citizens to do what they can for their county she wants the country to do it all for those who won’t do it for themselves. Is this the kind of leader you want making policy for you? Nancy Pelosi you need to go and you need to go now!

Being sycophantic is a terrible condition to deal with and we should give him a little slack for some of his past ranting with no substance just emotional blathering. I recall when Keith was a sports announcer and a relatively good one at that but the transition to real news just didn’t work for him. His condition may or may not have been the cause for his failure but we all sympathize with him now that he has recognized his condition. The first step toward dealing effectively with emotional problems is admitting it and seeking help, so let’s hope he gets the help he so desperately needs.
