No capitalism=no freedom.

As the G20 meeting gets underway, this question of capitalism versus socialism is at the forefront. This is from Janet Daley in the U.K. Daily Telegraph:

Some of the demonstrators in this week's G20 protest jamboree are demanding the "overthrow" of capitalism. Well, there are lots of things than can be done to "capitalism" – it can be undermined, suppressed, sabotaged, even outlawed – but it cannot be "overthrown" because in itself, it has no power.

It is the very opposite, in fact, of a tyranny. It is simply the conglomeration of all the transactions made between individual and corporate players in an open market. Some people may gain power through those transactions but that power is transient and contingent on their own financial success: they are not installed in immutable positions from which they...

Bust trust between Big Gov’t and Big Business.

Jonah Goldberg echoes my thoughts on the nexus of government and business and how it’s bad for the country:

Obama doesn't feel compelled to merely remedy the mistakes of his predecessor; he believes it is vital that we renew the New Deal-style economic policies we strayed from when Ronald Reagan was elected. Not only must we pour vast sums of money into highways and mass transit, along with social-insurance programs, we need to "reset" the relationship between government and big business. Just this week, the administration announced that it wants new powers to control not just banks, but other financial institutions and businesses that are "too big to fail." Snip –

First, one needs to remember that the New Deal was not the assault on big business that its fans claim. FDR may have talked...

Tea Party April 15.

Glenn Reynolds of Instapundit fame has a brief and informational video about the Tea Party phenomenon, how you can get involved, and how you can report about one in your local area for inclusion in Pajamas Media productions on the web. Since the mainstream media isn’t covering this huge story, they are just becoming more and more irrelevant and making alternative media the place for real Americans. Please watch this interview with one of the movers and shakers behind this new American Revolution.

Justice Dept: Shut up about Ayers-police officer murders.

Okay, if anyone had any reservations about how well Obama knew Bill Ayers, this report ought to bring you to reality. Just remember, there’s no statute of limitations on murder. From the American Thinker website:

Allegations that presidential pal Bill Ayers was involved in the murder of a San Francisco policeman appear to be running into something of a gag order from at the Department of Justice. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the Justice Department and the San Francisco Police Department have contacted the San Francisco Police Officers Association and told them not to talk about the...

Obama presser: Having it both ways on economy.

Calvin Woodward of the Associated Press has noticed something…if you can believe it. Obama wants it both ways on the economy -- patience with the recovery of the economy while blasting a hole through the deficit with all of his insane spending (my word, not Woodward’s):

President Barack Obama's plea for patience in the economic turmoil Tuesday fits with the view of most economists that a turnaround will take some time. It doesn't fit quite so neatly with his bullish budget. Snip –

THE CLAIM: "We will recover from this recession. But it will take time, it will take patience, and it will take an understanding that when we all work together, when each of us looks beyond our own short-term interests to the wider set of obligations we have to each other, that's when we succeed."

President Obama is said to be organizing former presidential campaign supporters into a political organization called Organizing for America.  These folks are planning to go door to door to sell his massive tax plan.  These people should be known for their Pushing of Irresponsible Government or PIG’s, so when you see them in your neighborhood be sure to refer to them by their goal.  PIG’s will be promoting a budget that will result in trillions of dollars in debt for future generations and slow America’s economic recovery.

You may want to place a sign on your door that reads “Pushers of Irresponsible Government (PIG’s) go home”.  This sign should apply to everybody who is there with their hand out taking the ill gotten gains that the government steals on their behalf from productive people.  Compassion with other people money is what being a PIG is all about

The invisible hand of Adam Smith shows itself in the after effects of the current economic downturn.  I just read an article telling how waste disposal activities are on the rise as materials that we once recycled are now again being thrown back into landfills.  Items such a paper and scrap metal are now being discarded because there is no economic reason to do otherwise as new materials are available at less expense.  It seems that when the economy does well and these products are in high demand the economic machine found ways to use recycled items. Now these recycled items are not cost efficient and we see the recycle clock rolled back. It is the invisible hand in reverse, as we try to interfere with the natural order of things with ill advised good intentions it results in less rather than more benefit to the environment

The tide that lifts all boats has ebbed and the people...

Good grief, Obama writes Chiraq.

Doesn’t he know Sarkozy is the French president? Gateway Pundit has the story:

In his latest faux pas Obama managed to pi$$ off France...

President Obama wrote Jacques Chirac saying he was looking forward to working with the former French president in the coming four years(?) Monsters and Critics reported:

US President Barack Obama has indirectly praised former French president Jacques Chirac's fierce opposition to the US-led invasion of Iraq, the online edition of the daily Le Figaro reported on Thursday. In a letter described by Chirac as 'very nice,' Obama wrote, 'I am certain that we will be able to work together, in the coming four...

In A Huff Blog

I learned at an early age that dogs will chase you if you run or if you show weakness. Walking home from school one day – I was perhaps eight or nine – I passed by a house and after I passed by, the dog in the yard saw me and looked aggressive. I heard his nails clicking rapidly on the sidewalk then all of the sudden he barked. I think this dog had done this sort of thing before to other kids and expected me to run so he could chase me. It was just a little game to him. Instead of running I turned around and faced him and struck a bit of an “at ready” pose. I was amazed when the dog didn’t just stop running, he used his butt as a break, turned around and ran away howling as if I had somehow hurt him. In fact, some older kids who had been playing at a playground across the street, asked me “What did you do to that dog.” Of course I had done nothing. This same scenario...

Tea Party updates.

Ridgefield, CT, Tea Party held on Saturday:

They carried signs, chanted slogans, urged motorists to honk horns. There was even a folk singer urging the audience to "take back" the country.

Sounds like your average protest, right?

The difference here: many of the protesters were political conservatives who had never felt it necessary to take to the streets before.

And yet there they were, about 300 strong, lining both sides of Main Street in front of Ballard Park on Saturday for a "Tea Party" protest against President Barack Obama's $3.5 trillion budget and the government's effort to "stimulate" the sagging national economy through spending.

"The primary focus is a concern over the direction the policies of the current administration are taking us," said Andrew "Skip" March, a Ridgefield resident who helped organize the protest, news of which spread like wildfire on the Web.
