Are you kidding me? Can you believe that congress is due to get a pay increase? It’s one they've voted to automaticly receive, so they don't look bad voting it to themselves each year. At a time when their approval rating is the lowest in history they get an increase in pay when the right thing for them to do is to resign and give somebody else a chance. They will get a $4,700 annual pay increase, amounting to an additional $2.5 million that taxpayers will spend on congressional salaries next year.
Rep. Harry Mitchell, a first-term Democrat from Arizona, sponsored legislation earlier this year that would have prevented the automatic pay adjustments from kicking in for members next year. But the bill, which attracted 34 cosponsors, failed to make it out of committee.

What ever happened to public service and sacrifice for the good of the country? Getting the best people by paying them more hasn't worked so maybe it's time to turn back the clock. Less pay for more work may get some of the crooks out of the political arena.
Let your congress person know how you feel on this issue, go to Take a Stand and send them a message: http://www.politicallyempowered.com/TakeaStand/tabid/5726/Default.aspx

Re: Congress Celebrates at Your Expense!
Great idea. I wrote to my two senators and my representative. When do taxpayers get a union rep?
