Elections and Voting

Political Knowledge:  Ignorance is expensive and the media try very hard to keep you as ignorant as possible. They do this by distracting you with sports, music, movies, games, etc.

*If you can’t use the voting machines you just might not be smart enough to be voting.

*0805 The U.S. Supreme Court voted 6-3 to uphold Indiana’s voter-identification law requiring voters to present a driver’s license or other form of photo ID when they go to vote. The court carefully considered a variety of factors, including the paramount interest in ensuring the integrity of the electoral process itself, in making its decision. Nor did the evidence presented by opponents of the law provide “any concrete evidence of the burden imposed on voters who currently lack photo identification,” Gathering the required documents, and posing for a photograph surely does not qualify as a substantial burden on the right to vote, or even present a significant increase over the usual burdens of voting.” Pointing out that photo identification cards are currently needed to board a plane, enter federal buildings or cash a check, the Carter-Baker panel states: “Voting is equally important.”  Those opposing voter ID say that fighting voter fraud constitutes an unconstitutional burden on the poor, elderly, minorities, etc.

*Due to voters who are swayed by emotional promises, candidates try to outdo each other in populist promises that are unworkable' but they are never held to deliver on those promises. It’s no wonder we call politicians liars because we listen to them but always give them a way out rather than vote them out of office. We re-elect them again, because of our stupidity or is there another word for it?.
